Metropolitan of Drama Dorotheos
The Bishop of Drama, and Exarch of Macedonia, Mr. Dorotheos (by name Vasilios Paparis) was born in 1957 in Kavala. He was ordained Deacon in 1990 and Elder in 1991, receiving the title of Archimandrite.He studied Philology and Theology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He served for seven years as a philologist in General and Ecclesiastical Secondary Education, as well as a deputy director of the Radio Station of the Church of Greece.He served as First Bishop, responsible for Youth and Catechesis and Pastoral Preacher of the Holy Metropolis of Goumenissa, Axioupolis and Polycastro. He is considered the builder of the churches of Panagia Axion Estin of Axioupolis and Holy Trinity of Polycastro.From March 2019 he served as Second and subsequently as First Secretary - i keep minutes at the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. He was elected Metropolitan of Drama on 7 October, ordained on 16 October and enthroned on 19 November 2022.
