Kostas Vidakis was born in Germany, lived in Thessaloniki, and currently resides and works in Drama. His forestry studies motivated him to apply his photographic skills to the study and documentation of nature. His first major work was the photographic coverage for the late Professor Theodoros Arampatzis’s album Wildflowers of the Virgin Forest of Drama (1996) and his book Shrubs and Trees in Greece (Vol. A, 1998). His engagement with the unexplored landscapes of Drama resulted in the album Drama: Mountain Crystal (2003), reflecting his regional experience. This work has been included in dozens of publications by local institutions promoting Drama. He is a permanent member of the Special Technical Staff at the TEI of Kavala in ecology and forest botany. He contributed to the books Landscape Aesthetics (2006, 2007), Landscapes of Lowland and Mountainous Drama (2008), and Legumes of Northern Greece (2007), and participates in local projects documenting flora scientifically and photographically. He has also collaborated with local and national magazines.
